Dr Anya Leaver, who leads the GP service, also runs a clinician led private weight management clinic with Professor John New, a professor of endocrinology, who developed the Salford Weight Management Services, over a decade ago, which provides a holistic, patient-centred, multidisciplinary weight management service. Prescribing only where it is clinically appropriate and in accordance with NICE guidance, demand has grown steadily, she personally offers around 180 patient appointments per year.
